Parliamentary evening with the Business Club Luxembourg

On 25th September, the Reclay Group and the Business Club Luxembourg were invited to take part in a parliamentary evening, dealing with the topic of “Circular Economy – The Path Towards Sustainable Business Opportunities” in the Luxembourg Embassy in Berlin. The goal of the joint event was to debate the chances for a circular economy and to establish incentives for a reciprocal exchange between Germany and Luxembourg. Dr. Matthias Heider, Member of the German Bundestag and Member of the Committee for Economy and Energy, Claude Turmes, Member of the European Parliament and Raffael A. Fruscio, shareholder of the Reclay Group were invited to speak at the event. The event was chaired by Marcel Klesan, leader of the EcoInnovation Cluster, a think-tank sponsored by the Luxembourg government that connects economics, science and research with one another. Over the course of the evening, initiatives were examined from these domains at both a European and a national level. First and foremost, discussions looked at which measures would have to be taken in the future in order to further expand the circular economy and to establish it as a fundamental element of both national economies. Raffael A. Fruscio pointed out the significance of high-quality recycling and emphasized that both the economy and politics would have to work together to ensure that the secondary raw materials that are so vital for our industries could be obtained. Dr. Heider highlighted the necessity of a law on recyclable materials in order for Germany to maintain its leading position in the field of product responsibility, whilst Claude Turmes addressed the change in society that would be required by a functioning circular economy. A subsequent podium discussion gave the guests – which included members of the German Bundestag, ministry representatives, trade unions, representatives from the states and the economy – the opportunity to talk to the speakers and discuss the prospects for future developments.
