Reclay Group acquires majority share of Canadian environmental consultancy StewardEdge

Group continues with internationalisation strategy – acquisition enables expanded services for international clients

Cologne, 22.10.2012

The Reclay Group is continuing its process of internationalisation: the environmental and waste management Group has acquired a majority stake of the renowned Canadian environment consultancy StewardEdge, which is headquartered in Toronto, Ontario. StewardEdge is one of the pioneers in the areas of recycling and product responsibility in North America and advises international consumer goods manufacturers, associations, authorities and organisations on issues relating to used packaging, waste electrical equipment and hazardous waste. The company develops sustainable solutions for the reduction of waste and its effects on the environment.

The acquisition of the majority share by the Reclay Group enables the combined companies to provide a wider range of services to clients in the USA in addition to Canada. Operations will be expanded to South America in the next step. Shareholder of the Reclay Group Raffael A. Fruscio remarked: “StewardEdge’s international consultancy expertise makes it the perfect partner for expanding our portfolio worldwide. We are contributing our strong track record in the development and implementation of systems and innovative services for closed substance cycle waste management to this cooperation, and are thus creating a unique synergy in the market. We are delighted that StewardEdge has joined the Reclay Group and are looking forward to making a flying start together. We are now already participating in calls for tenders in North America.”

StewardEdge was launched in 2009 and has since enjoyed huge market success with an experienced team. Today StewardEdge employs 40 people. Some of the experts at StewardEdge have been active in the areas of recycling and product responsibility for more than 30 years. In addition to its headquarters in Toronto, StewardEdge also has offices in Florida, USA. General Manager of StewardEdge Ken Friesen commented: “We are happy that the Reclay Group has shown such confidence in StewardEdge and we’re looking forward to working together. By combining our expertise, we will have excellent opportunities to significantly expand our range of services for the customers of both companies, to further develop our international recycling and closed substance cycle waste management and to tap new markets.”

The acquisition of the majority share of StewardEdge continues the internationalisation strategy of the Reclay Group. The Group is already active in the US with its stake in the Danish recycling company Shark Solutions in the state of Georgia, which operates the only recycling plant for polyvinyl butyral (PVB) from laminated glass in the USA. In Europe the Reclay Group has its own branch offices in Austria, Switzerland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovenia and is continuing its international expansion.
