Looking towards a common future
Cologne, 06.12.2010
Good news at the end of the year: in a joint initiative, the dual systems Redual, DSD and Landbell have agreed on the allocation of the calls for tenders organisation for the glass and lightweight packaging sectors in the collection contracts valid as of 1 January 2012. The three system operators thus fulfil a key requirement stipulated by the Federal Cartel Office, namely the orientation of the demand for collection services on a free-market concept. After extensive preparation work at the joint office for the dual systems failed to result in a resolution that was backed by all nine dual systems, and owing to the time pressure involved, Redual, DSD and Landbell decided to continue developing the concept outside of the joint office. Every step was closely coordinated with the Federal Cartel Office, which means that allocation could take place punctually on 30 November. “We are very pleased about this success. Our initiative shows that it is possible for competitors to agree on reasonable basic conditions despite all conflicting interests. The other system operators are welcome to join the agreement for the next allocation,” remarked Dr. Fritz Flanderka, managing director of the Reclay Group.
