Something typically German...

Cologne, 15.07.2015

...is the current discussion about the law on recyclable material. Even before the first draft has been finalised, the whole procedure has already been heavily criticised and some have even announced that it has been aborted. What becomes very clear in the overall debate: everyone is acting only in his/her own best interests and not in the interests of further development of the recycling location Germany as a whole. With a law on recyclable materials, our country would send the important and very overdue signal that it wants to continue taking on the role of world pioneer in waste management. Because: this law is the first political idea in our industry for many years which genuinely focuses on the future. It offers the great opportunity of combining ecological and economic added value. It would have an immense significance, similar to the packaging regulations when they were introduced in 1991. And what is happening now? We are in danger of throwing away 20 years of success into our yellow rubbish bins. “Made in Germany” should not look like this!
