Straight talk!

Latest Comments on the Industry

It is important for us as a company to take a stance on the issues of our time. This includes expressing our opinions openly, and getting to the crux of any matter. We therefore frequently express our point of view on topical discussions, issues and developments in our industry. Critically, frankly, directly. In other words, simply straight talk!

  • Cologne, 06.12.2010 - Looking towards a common future

Good news at the end of the year: in a joint initiative, the dual systems Redual, DSD and Landbell have agreed on the allocation of the calls for tenders organisation for the glass and lightweight packaging sectors in the collection contracts valid as of 1 January 2012. The three system operators thus fulfil a key requirement stipulated by the Federal Cartel Office, namely the orientation of the demand for collection services on a free-market concept.

  • 08.11.2010 - For further information on side-effects and risks, simply contact the Reclay Group

The critical phase of the licensing contract calls for tenders for 2010 is well underway. Some suppliers on the market seem to have been affected by the pressure, however. Why else has drinks packaging been assigned to paper, cardboard and cardboard packaging as composite material in some of the submitted tenders, for example?

  • Cologne, 20.10.2010 - The value of the reusable materials container

The results are clear: according to a representative survey for the Reclay Group, more than half of the German population is willing to pay more money for improved recycling possibilities provided by the reusable materials container. 47 per cent of these would be willing to pay 10 cents more per month. 30 per cent would spend 25 cents more per month and 23 per cent even believe that the container is worth a monthly increase of 50 cents.

  • Cologne, 14.10.2010 - Whose idea…?

Good ideas catch on – this is also true in the area of packaging disposal. Business models that have been offered by the Reclay Group for many years are being increasingly imitated by competitors. For example, EUWID recently reported that Interseroh intends to act as a licence volume mediator as well. The Reclay Group is pleased that Interseroh has recognised the importance of a true full-service supplier for customers.

  • 04.10.2010 - By chance…?

Shortly after the successful launch of Reclay Österreich GmbH on the packaging licensing market, Austria’s leading packaging collection system announced that it will lower its prices effective as of 1.1.2011. Could this really have happened by chance? In any event, it certainly shows once more that competition is good for the market and good for prices.

  • Cologne, 29.09.2010 - Showing their true colours

The clearing mass flow documentation of the dual systems for the fourth quarter of 2010, even though it has not yet been published, speaks for itself: although the majority of the companies have submitted a realistic portrayal of their situation and have registered increased volume, several market participants have lowered their figures for no apparent reason.

  • Cologne, 26.08.2010 - Russian roulette

The German Packaging Ordinance stipulates that complex and extensive obligations regarding the provision of evidence and recycling must be met by manufacturers and distributors of packaging. Transparency and legal compliance are of crucial importance to companies in the fulfilment of these obligations. In order to achieve this, a competent full-service supplier such as the Reclay Group is needed to handle the entire supply chain of packaging licensing and recycling. The exact opposite of this concept are the pure broker models that are currently appearing on the market.

  • Cologne, 30.06.2010 - In the right hands

The ultimate aim of introducing a reusable materials container is to increase the proportion of raw materials to be recovered and recycled in accordance with climate and resource protection guidelines. This requires a sensible reallocation of responsibilities between the municipal and private waste disposal industry.
